FAQ

The SPX0715D is designed for Hayward 2-inch multiport valve applications, including Vari-Flo and Pro Series top-mount sand filter valve models SP0715 and SP0716. It is also compatible with sand filter model S220T2 and HCF series valve kit model HCV20715. Please verify your specific valve model number before ordering, as seat gaskets are precision-engineered for specific valve body designs.
Yes, this part is interchangeable with part numbers SPX0715D and SPX715D. It is compatible with equipment utilizing models SP0715, SP0716, S220T2, SP715, SP716, and HCV20715.
Common signs include water leaking internally through the multiport valve, improper water flow between settings, reduced filter pressure performance, water bypassing to the wrong port, or difficulty getting the valve to seal correctly in Filter, Backwash, or Rinse modes. A damaged, flattened, or loose spider-style seat gasket can allow water to cross between valve passages.
Installation is of moderate difficulty, as the old gasket must be fully scraped out of the valve groove before the new one is installed. You will need basic hand tools, a scraper or pick for removal, cleaning supplies for the groove, and the appropriate adhesive for your valve design. Once installed, the gasket should be glued in place and allowed to set for approximately 24 hours before restarting your pool system.
Inspect the valve rotor, diverter, spring, cover, and gasket groove for wear, cracking, or debris. If the old gasket came loose, ensure all adhesive residue is removed so the new gasket can seat evenly. Additionally, check for warped valve surfaces, as a new seat gasket may not resolve leaks if the internal diverter or valve body itself is worn.
These gaskets typically fail due to age, chemical exposure, heat, repeated handle rotation under pressure, or the gasket lifting out of its groove. Turning the multiport handle while the pump is running can damage internal sealing surfaces and shorten the life of the gasket. Always depressurize the system before changing valve positions to reduce unnecessary stress on the gasket.
