Compatibility & Fitment
- Compatible with Honda 4-stroke small engines including: GX100, GX100U, GX100RT, GX100UT, GXR100, and GXR120.
- Fits various light construction equipment powered by these engines, such as jumping jacks, tampers, plate compactors, and water pumps.
- Direct fit for specific rammer models including Multiquip (MTR40HF, MTX50HD, MTX60HD, MTX70HD, MTX70HF) and select Wacker Neuson equipment.
When to Replace
- The pull cord snaps, frays excessively, or detaches completely from the handle mechanism.
- The internal tension spring breaks or loses tension, preventing the rope from automatically retracting back into the housing.
- The internal pawls wear down, causing the starter to pull freely without grabbing or turning over the engine.
- The outer protective casing is cracked, shattered, or bent due to job site impact or extended vibration.
Installation Tips
- Ensure the engine switch is turned to the "OFF" position and the spark plug wire is disconnected to prevent accidental starting during maintenance.
- Remove the original recoil housing by unthreading the mounting bolts, retaining the original hardware for securing the new unit.
- Hold the new recoil housing in place and pull the starter rope 1 to 2 inches to ensure the pawls seat correctly into the flywheel cup before fully tightening the fasteners.
- Tighten the mounting bolts evenly in a cross pattern to prevent warping the housing, then perform a slow test pull to verify smooth engagement and unhindered retraction.
