DC97-07618A Samsung Dryer Drum Front Felt Seal
Key Features
- High-Temperature Synthetic Fiber: Engineered from heat-stabilized synthetic felt that maintains a flexible, airtight seal even during the high-heat cycles of modern Samsung sensor-dry systems.
- Optimized Airflow Barrier: Provides a critical seal between the rotating drum and the stationary front bulkhead, ensuring heated air is pulled through the clothes rather than escaping into the dryer cabinet.
- Low-Friction Surface: Designed to minimize mechanical drag on the drum motor, reducing energy consumption and preventing premature wear on the drive belt and idler pulley.
- Lint & Debris Protection: Acts as a gasket to prevent lint, pet hair, and small clothing items from slipping into the internal gaps of the dryer, which can cause mechanical failure or fire hazards.
- Precision Fitment: Manufactured to the exact diameter and thickness specifications of the original factory part for a seamless 360-degree application around the front rim of the drum.

Compatibility & Fitment
This felt seal is compatible with a wide range of Samsung front-load dryers. Key models include:
- Samsung DV42H Series: DV42H5200EW, DV42H5000EW, DV42H5200EP/A3, DV42H5400EW.
- Samsung DV45K Series: DV45K6500EV, DV45K6200EW, DV45K7600EW.
- Samsung DV48H Series: DV48H7400EW, DV48H7400GW.
- Samsung DV50K & DV52J Series: DV50K8600EV/A3, DV52J8700GP/A2, DV52J8700EW.
- Note: This seal is typically located on the Front of the drum. Please verify if you also need the rear seal or the support rollers, as these components often wear out at the same time.
When to Replace
- Loud Thumping or Scraping: The felt has flattened or worn away, allowing the metal drum to rub directly against the metal front support panel.
- Black Marks on Clothes: A failing seal can leak internal grease or allow synthetic fibers to char, leaving dark streaks or stains on laundry.
- Torn or Snagged Laundry: If the seal has gaps or is peeling off, clothes can get caught between the drum and the bulkhead, resulting in ripped seams or pulled threads.
- Excessive Lint Inside Cabinet: If you find a large accumulation of lint under the drum or near the motor when you open the dryer, the seal is no longer containing the airflow.
- Burning Smell: Indicates that lint is escaping the drum and coming into contact with the heating element or that the seal itself is charring due to excessive friction.
Installation Tips
- Safety First (CRITICAL): Disconnect the dryer from the power source (unplug or flip the breaker) before beginning disassembly.
- Clean the Surface (PRO TIP): Use a putty knife and a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol to remove all old adhesive residue from the drum rim. A clean surface is mandatory for the new seal to bond correctly.
- Adhesive Application: Apply a thin, even bead of high-temperature adhesive (if not pre-applied) along the flange. Press the felt firmly into place, ensuring there are no bunches or overlaps.
- Check the Direction: Ensure the "fuzzy" side of the felt is facing the stationary bulkhead to provide the proper sliding surface for the drum.
- Cure Time (IMPORTANT): Allow the adhesive to dry for a minimum of 4 to 6 hours before reassembling and running the dryer. Running it too soon will cause the drum's rotation to peel the new seal off.
