DA61-06796A Refrigerator Evaporator Drain Clip - Pack of 2
Key Features
- Extended Heat Conduction: Engineered as a longer, improved version of the factory-original clip, designed to reach deeper into the drain hole to conduct heat directly from the defrost heater, preventing ice from forming at the drain entry.
- Corrosion-Resistant Metal: Manufactured from high-quality aluminum or stainless steel that ensures rapid heat transfer and long-term durability in the high-moisture environment behind the evaporator panel.
- Dual-Pack Solution: Provided as a 2-pack, allowing for replacement in both the refrigerator and freezer sections of dual-evaporator units, or keeping a spare for future maintenance.
- Anti-Clog Technology: Helps maintain an open path for melt-water during the defrost cycle, preventing the common Samsung "water under the crisper drawer" issue caused by a frozen drain.
- Secure Snap-On Fit: Features a precision-bent hook design that snaps firmly onto the bottom of the defrost heater element, ensuring it stays perfectly aligned with the drain opening without the need for additional fasteners.

Compatibility & Fitment
This clip is a universal "fix-it" component for Samsung French door, side-by-side, and bottom-freezer refrigerators. Key compatible models include:
- Samsung RF Series: RF263BEAESG/AA, RF28JBEDBSR/AA, RFG298HDBP/XAA, RF266ABRS/XAA, RF263TEASR.
- Samsung RS Series: RS265TDRS/XAA, RS263TDBP, RS25H5111SR.
- Samsung RB & RL Series: RB195ABWP, RL48RSVG, and other models featuring a single or dual evaporator setup.
- Note: This part is an "add-on" or "improvement" part. It may appear longer than the original clip that came with your refrigerator, which is intentional to solve the freezing problem.
When to Replace
- Water Under Crisper Drawers: The most common sign; water pools at the bottom of the fridge because it cannot drain properly through the frozen tube.
- Ice Buildup on Rear Panel: Visible frost or ice forming on the back wall of the refrigerator or freezer compartment, often blocking airflow.
- Loud Fan Noise: Ice has built up so high that the evaporator fan begins to hit the ice, creating a loud clicking or grinding sound.
- Frozen Drain Hole: Upon removing the evaporator cover, you find the small drain pan at the bottom is completely filled with a solid block of ice.
- -25E Error Code: On some Samsung models, this code indicates a defrost system failure, which can be triggered when the drain is frozen shut.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: CRITICAL: Unplug the refrigerator or turn off the circuit breaker. You will be working near high-voltage heater elements.
- Complete Thaw Required: PRO TIP: You MUST completely melt all ice in the drain tube before installing the new clip. Use a turkey baster with hot water or a hair dryer (on low heat) to ensure the drain is clear and water flows freely into the back pan.
- Avoid Forcing the Panel: If the rear evaporator cover is frozen to the coils, do not pull it. Use a steamer or hair dryer to melt the ice behind the panel first, or you may snap the delicate Styrofoam insulation.
- Proper Positioning: Hook the new DA61-06796A clip onto the center of the defrost heater's bottom rail. Ensure the "tail" of the clip points directly into the center of the drain hole.
- Check the Rubber Valves: While the fridge is pulled out, check the "duckbill" rubber valves on the drain tubes in the rear of the unit. If they are clogged with dust, clean them to prevent a secondary backup.
