For best performance, we recommend replacing the HEPA filters every 2 to 3 months and the side brushes every 3 to 6 months, depending on your home's environment and the frequency of use. The main brush roll should be inspected regularly and replaced if you notice significant bristle wear or damage to the rubber fins.
You should consider replacing your filters if you notice a decrease in suction power or if the vacuum begins to emit a musty odor. For the brushes, look for frayed or missing bristles on the side brushes and flattened or damaged rubber fins on the main brush roll, which can reduce the vacuum's ability to agitate and pick up debris from carpets and hard floors.
No special tools are required. The side brushes snap into place, and the main brush roll can be removed by releasing the brush guard latch on the underside of the unit. The filters are easily accessible by opening the dust bin compartment.
The pre-motor foam filter acts as the first line of defense, capturing larger dust particles before they reach the high-efficiency HEPA filter. If the foam filter becomes clogged or degraded, it forces the vacuum motor to work harder to pull air through the system, which can lead to overheating and reduced suction. Replacing both ensures the entire filtration system remains efficient.
