FAQ

This kit is compatible with a wide range of outdoor power equipment, including lawn mowers, snow blowers, tillers, and portable generators from brands such as MTD, Troy-Bilt, Toro, Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Bolens, Snapper, and Coleman Powermate (including 1850, 3000, 4200, 5000, and 6250 series).
This kit replaces MTD/Troy-Bilt part numbers 751-0171, 951-0171, 735-0149, and 935-0149. It also cross-references with several industry parts, including Stens 120-253 and 125-336, Toro 10-4047 and 46-6560, Kohler 25-313-01, Snapper 1654930 and 7012337, and Tecumseh 33679.
The grommet is designed for a 33/64-inch (approx. 13mm) fuel tank hole. The dimensions are 3/8-inch inner diameter (ID), 1-1/16-inch outer diameter (OD), and 5/8-inch height.
The fuel shut-off valve is designed to be used with a standard 1/4-inch inner diameter (ID) fuel line.
You likely need a replacement if you notice fuel leaking from the tank grommet area, if the fuel shut-off valve lever is seized or leaking, or if the engine is starving for fuel because the valve is stuck in the closed or partially closed position. If the grommet has become hard, cracked, or brittle due to age and fuel exposure, it will no longer provide a secure, leak-free seal.
Installing a new grommet can be tight. Ensure the fuel tank hole is clean and free of debris. Using a small amount of dish soap or a dedicated rubber lubricant on the grommet can help it slide into the tank hole more easily. Once the grommet is seated, insert the fuel valve carefully to avoid tearing the rubber.
