When to Replace
Replace the oil filter at the interval specified for the engine or when servicing the engine oil. A clogged or worn filter may contribute to dark, gritty oil, restricted oil flow, seepage around the filter base, or accelerated internal engine wear.
Installation Tips
- Confirm the replacement filter dimensions, 3/4-16 thread, and engine model before installation.
- Drain the engine oil and remove the old filter using an appropriate oil-filter tool if it is tight.
- Check that the old sealing gasket is removed from the mounting surface.
- Apply a light coating of clean engine oil to the new gasket, install the filter, and tighten it according to the engine manufacturer’s service instructions.
- Refill the engine with the specified oil, run it briefly, and inspect the filter seal for leaks.
