When to Replace
- The washer fails to empty, leaving standing water inside the drum at the end of the wash cycle.
- The machine advances to the drain phase but does not transition into the final spin cycle.
- A loud grinding, humming, or squealing noise is audible coming from the bottom of the washer during the drain cycle.
- Water is visibly leaking from the base of the machine, originating from a crack in the pump housing.
Installation Tips
- Disconnect the washing machine from the electrical outlet and shut off the water supply before starting the repair.
- Access the pump by removing the bottom front access panel (for front loaders) or tipping the machine back (for top loaders).
- Place a shallow pan and towels underneath the existing pump to catch residual water before disconnecting the hoses.
- Use pliers to squeeze and slide the spring clamps back to remove the inlet and outlet hoses.
- Disconnect the wire harness, unscrew the mounting bolts securing the old pump to the chassis, and install the new unit in reverse order.
