This thermal fuse functions as a high-limit safety device. It cuts power to the dryer’s heating element if the unit overheats. Once the fuse blows, it cannot be reset and must be replaced. A common cause of fuse failure is a restricted or blocked exhaust vent, which traps hot air and causes the fuse to open, stopping current flow to the gas valve or heating element.
