5mm LED Light Emitting Diode Assortment Kit (5 Colors)
Key Features
- Comprehensive Color Assortment: Includes 500 total pieces divided equally among the five most essential electronics colors: Ultra-Bright White, Red, Yellow, Emerald Green, and Deep Blue (100 pieces each).
- Industry-Standard 5mm Form Factor: Features the universally accepted 5mm round-head through-hole design, making them the perfect fit for standard breadboards, perfboards, and custom printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- High Luminous Intensity: Engineered with premium semiconductor chips that deliver bright, consistent illumination even at low currents, ensuring excellent visibility for indicator lights and displays.
- Clear Polarity Identification: Built with standard bi-pin leads where the longer leg indicates the positive Anode (+) and the shorter leg (along with a flat edge on the plastic base) indicates the negative Cathode (-).
- Organized Storage Case: Packaged in a durable, compartmentalized translucent plastic box that keeps colors separated, preventing workbench clutter and saving you time when searching for a specific diode.

Universal Compatibility & Applications
This LED assortment is an absolute necessity for anyone working with electronics, from beginners to professional engineers:
- Microcontroller Prototyping: The go-to visual indicator for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32 breadboard projects (e.g., blinking lights, status indicators, and logic level testing).
- Appliance & Electronics Repair: Perfect for replacing dead power or status indicator lights on stereo amplifiers, routers, coffee makers, and children's toys.
- Custom Hobby Projects: Ideal for adding working headlights to RC cars, illuminating scale model train dioramas, or building custom PC case lighting mods.
- Educational Use: Excellent for teaching basic circuit theory, Ohm's law, and polarity in STEM classrooms.
Installation & Wiring Tips
- Always Use a Resistor (CRITICAL): LEDs will instantly draw as much current as a power source can provide until they pop and burn out. You must place a current-limiting resistor in series with the LED. (A 220Ω or 330Ω resistor is standard for a 5V circuit).
- Double-Check Polarity: Remember: Long Leg = Positive (Anode), Short Leg = Negative (Cathode). If you install an LED backward, it will simply block the current and will not light up, but it usually won't be damaged unless the reverse voltage is extremely high.
- Soldering Heat limits: When soldering these to a PCB or wire, apply heat for no more than 3 seconds at a time. The plastic lens can melt, and excessive heat traveling up the metal legs can destroy the delicate semiconductor chip inside.
- Diffusion Trick (PRO TIP): If you need a softer, wider glow (like for a custom lamp or indicator) instead of a harsh directional beam, lightly scuff the clear round top of the LED with fine-grit sandpaper to diffuse the light.
