4933DD3001B / 4933DD3001A Dishwasher Door Hinge Tension Cable
Key Features
- High-Tension Braided Fiber: Manufactured from a premium, multi-strand braided nylon designed to withstand the high-torque repetitive stress of daily door opening and closing without fraying or snapping.
- Precision Tension Balancing: Engineered as a critical component of the door counterbalance system, ensuring the dishwasher door opens smoothly and remains stationary at any angle without slamming shut or falling open.
- Corrosion-Proof End Connectors: Features specialized plastic hooks and "eye" loops that are 100% rust-proof and resistant to the high-humidity environment beneath the dishwasher tub.
- Enhanced Structural Longevity: The 4933DD3001B is the upgraded version of the original "A" series, featuring a tighter weave and reinforced attachment points for a longer service life.
- Complete 2-Piece Maintenance Set: This value pack includes both cables required to restore the tension on both the left and right sides of the door, ensuring a perfectly level and balanced operation.

Compatibility & Fitment
This hinge cable is the standard replacement for the door counterbalance system of most LG-manufactured stainless steel tub dishwashers. Key compatible models include:
- LG: Fits hundreds of LDF, LDS, LDT, and LDP series models (e.g., LDF7551ST, LDF7774ST, LDT9965BD, LDS4821ST).
- Kenmore (795 & 796 Series): Compatible with many Kenmore-Elite dishwashers manufactured by LG for Sears.
- Note: These cables connect the Door Hinge to the Tension Spring. They are located on the left and right sides of the dishwasher, hidden behind the outer side panels.
When to Replace
- Door Slams Open: The door feels extremely heavy and falls to the floor immediately when unlatched, indicating one or both cables have snapped.
- Door Won't Stay Closed: The door pops open slightly or won't latch because there is no spring tension pulling it back toward the tub.
- Loud Snap or Pop: A loud noise was heard when opening the door, followed by a loss of tension.
- Visible Fraying: Upon inspection of the side panels, the nylon cord looks "fuzzy" or has several broken strands, suggesting it is about to fail.
- Uneven Door Alignment: The door feels "crooked" when opening, usually because the cable on one side has stretched or snapped while the other remains intact.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: You MUST unplug the dishwasher and turn off the water supply. This repair typically requires uninstalling the dishwasher and pulling it 6–10 inches out from the cabinet.
- Access the Cables: Remove the lower kickplate and the side insulation panels. The cables run from the bottom of the door hinge, over a plastic pulley, and back to the tension spring.
- Inspect the Pulleys: While replacing the 4933DD3001B cables, check your 4581DD3003C Pulleys. If the pulley is cracked or jammed, it will cause your new cable to fray and snap again very quickly.
- Replace Both Sides: Even if only one cable is broken, the other has been subjected to the same wear. Replacing them as a pair ensures even tension and prevents a repeat repair in the near future.
- The "Spring Hook" Method: Use a pair of pliers to pull the tension spring forward while hooking the cable eyelet. Be careful not to let the spring snap back, as it is under significant tension.
