When to Replace

Replace the filter at the interval specified in the equipment service schedule, or when servicing the engine oil. A clogged or worn filter can contribute to dark, gritty oil, restricted oil flow, seepage around the filter base, and increased internal engine wear. Ethanol-related fuel contamination, poor maintenance, and extended service intervals can accelerate oil contamination.

Installation Tips

• Verify the engine model, old filter dimensions, outside diameter, height, and thread size before installation.
• Stop the engine, allow it to cool, and position the mower safely before servicing.
• Drain the engine oil according to the equipment manufacturer’s procedure.
• Remove the old filter with an appropriate filter wrench if it is tight, and clean the mounting surface.
• Check that the old gasket has been removed. Lightly coat the new gasket with clean engine oil, install the filter by hand, and tighten it according to the equipment service instructions.
• Refill with the specified oil, run the engine briefly, and check the filter base for leaks. Recheck the oil level after shutdown.
