Key Features
- One-piece drive belt assembly sized for 7 ft. residential garage doors; total belt length approximately 233–234 inches end to end
- Features 20 grooves per 6 inches of belt span for consistent grip and reduced slippage on the drive sprocket
- Constructed with structural steel reinforcement inside a polyurethane (PU) outer layer; resistant to stretching, warping, and corrosion
- Designed for quieter operation compared to chain-drive systems; reduces operational noise at the motor and rail
- One end terminates with a buckle clip; the opposite end features a mounting hole — no cutting, splicing, or additional hardware required
- No tools required for installation; compatible with belt-drive rail systems from 1998 to present on supported models

Applies to belt-drive openers manufactured from 1998 to present using the new-style belt format. Always verify the model number on the opener's label and check the parts diagram in the owner's manual before purchasing.
When to Replace
- Belt is visibly cracked, frayed, or missing teeth/grooves along its length
- Door moves erratically, jerks, or stalls mid-travel despite the motor running
- Belt has stretched beyond the tensioner's adjustment range and cannot be re-tensioned
- Squealing, slapping, or grinding noise occurs during door travel that is isolated to the belt and rail
- Belt has separated at one of the end connectors or the buckle clip has failed
- Opener activates but the door does not move (belt slipping freely on the sprocket)
Installation Tips
- Disconnect power to the opener before beginning — unplug the unit from the ceiling outlet
- Disengage the door from the trolley using the red emergency release cord before removing the old belt
- Thread the new belt through the trolley and around the idler pulley at the far end of the rail, then loop it around the drive sprocket at the motor head
- Attach the buckle clip end first, then feed the hole end through the belt tensioner bracket and secure with the retaining bolt
- Adjust belt tension so the belt does not sag more than approximately 1/2 inch below the rail at mid-span; over-tensioning accelerates sprocket and motor wear
- Run the door through 2–3 full open/close cycles after installation, then re-check tension — new belts seat slightly during initial use and may require a minor tension adjustment
- Wear work gloves during installation; belt edges and end clips can cause cuts during handling
