Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers
This capacitor is a universal replacement for any brand's single-value round capacitor with the same 35 MFD capacitance and 370V or 440V rating. Verify physical dimensions for a proper fit.
- Replaces capacitors with markings such as CBB65.
- Direct substitute for parts from brands including Genteq, Packard, Titan, and Mars with matching specifications.
Compatibility & Fitment
- Designed for continuous use in single-phase motor applications.
- Commonly used in HVAC systems, air conditioners, heat pumps, condenser units, compressors, and other electric motors.
- A 440V capacitor can safely replace a 370V unit with the same MFD rating.
- Ensure the physical dimensions (diameter and height) match the available space in your equipment.
When to Replace
- The motor hums but does not start or requires a manual push to start.
- Visible damage to the old capacitor, such as a bulging or swollen case, or fluid leakage.
- The fan or compressor in an HVAC unit fails to turn on.
- Capacitance reading on the existing capacitor is outside its rated tolerance (e.g., below 33.25 MFD or above 36.75 MFD for a ±5% unit).
Installation Tips
- Warning: Capacitors can store a dangerous electrical charge. Disconnect all power to the unit before servicing.
- Safely discharge the existing capacitor by shorting the terminals with an insulated-handle screwdriver.
- Note or photograph the wire connections before removing the old capacitor to ensure correct installation.
- Connect the wires to the corresponding terminals on the new capacitor. Polarity is not a concern for AC motor run capacitors.
- Secure the new capacitor with the original mounting bracket.
