This kit replaces OEM part numbers 24 559 02-S, 24-559-03-S, 24 559 05-S, 24-559-08-S, and 24-559-10-S.
Common symptoms of a failing fuel pump include the engine struggling to start, surging or stalling during operation, or a noticeable lack of power under load. If you notice fuel leaking from the pump housing or if the engine runs lean despite a clean carburetor, the internal diaphragm may be worn or torn.
This is a valve-cover-mounted fuel pump. It is installed specifically on the #2 cylinder side of the engine, which is the same side as the oil filter.
Before installation, inspect your fuel lines for any cracks, dry rot, or clogs. It is also a good practice to replace your fuel filter at the same time to prevent debris from reaching the new pump or the carburetor. Ensure the vacuum port on the engine is clear and free of obstructions to allow for proper pump pulsation.
These pumps are sensitive to fuel quality. Using fuel with an ethanol content higher than 10% can degrade the internal seals and diaphragms prematurely. Always use fresh, stabilized fuel to ensure the longevity of the new pump.
