When to Replace

  • Replace the shear pin immediately when it is broken or sheared. This occurs when the auger encounters a hard object, protecting the transmission.
  • Replace the cotter pin whenever a shear pin is replaced, as they are not designed for reuse.

Installation Tips

  • Disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.
  • Align the hole in the auger shaft with the hole in the gear shaft.
  • Insert the new shear pin through the aligned holes.
  • Secure the shear pin in place by inserting the cotter pin through the small hole at the end of the shear pin.
  • Bend the legs of the cotter pin to lock it in place.
