When to Replace
Replace the washer drive belt when the washer motor runs but the drum or agitator does not turn correctly, or when the belt slips, squeals, shows cracking, becomes glazed, or has stretched. Repeated belt failure can also indicate an overloaded washer, a seized pulley, restricted movement, or worn drive components. Inspect the pulleys and surrounding components before fitting the replacement belt.
Installation Tips
- Disconnect power before servicing the washer.
- Use the correct screwdriver or nut driver for the cabinet or access-panel fasteners.
- Remove the worn belt and inspect the motor pulley, driven pulley, and belt path for damage or obstruction.
- Route the new belt around the pulleys according to the washer’s original belt path, then rotate the pulley by hand to confirm that the belt tracks correctly.
- Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes for installation, depending on model access and cabinet design.
- Run a short test cycle and listen for slipping, rubbing, or unusual pulley noise before returning the washer to normal use.
