6 SIMPLE STEPS

6 SIMPLE STEPS

1. Turn off furnace power, close gas valve, and remove the front panel. Then locate the flame sensor & Disconnect the wire; 2. Uncrew and remove the old flame sensor & Install the new one, secure it into place, and reconnect wire; 3. Reattach the panel, open gas valve and turn power back on. *Note: Use work gloves during installation for safety. Avoid touching the metal rod part as oils from your skin can cause carbon buildup and premature failure, hold it only by the ceramic base.

FAQs

This flame sensor is used on some gas furnace models from Goodman, Amana, and Daikin. Compatibility depends on the exact furnace model number, so the safest match is to verify your original sensor part number against the numbers 0130F00010, B1172606, B11726-06, 20488501, P1257001F, P1257007F, ACS90453BXA, TJFLS013, TJ-FLS013, 2645136, AP4513976, and AP6326767.
Known cross-reference numbers for this flame sensor include 0130F00010, B1172606, B11726-06, 20488501, P1257001F, P1257007F, ACS90453BXA, TJFLS013, TJ-FLS013, 2645136, AP4513976, AP6326767, and ER0130F00010.
The flame sensor verifies that the burners have ignited properly. If it does not detect flame, the control board shuts off the gas valve to prevent unburned gas from continuing to flow. A working flame sensor is an important safety component in a gas furnace.
Typical symptoms include the furnace burners lighting and then shutting off after a few seconds, short cycling, repeated ignition attempts, or the furnace failing to stay running even though the igniter is working. In many cases, the sensor is not fully failed but coated with oxidation or residue and can no longer read flame properly.
For many furnaces, this is a straightforward repair. Usually the job takes about 10 to 20 minutes and requires basic hand tools such as a screwdriver or nut driver. Always turn off power to the furnace and shut off the gas supply before opening the access panel. Remove the mounting screw, disconnect the sensor wire, swap the sensor, and reinstall it in the same position.
Yes. A flame sensor often stops working because of carbon buildup or oxidation on the metal rod. Light cleaning with fine abrasive pad material or very fine sandpaper can sometimes restore operation. If cleaning does not solve the problem, or the sensor is cracked, badly corroded, or damaged, replacement is the better fix.
If the problem continues, check the sensor wire connection, furnace grounding, burner flame quality, and control board error codes. Poor burner flame, dirty burners, weak ground, or ignition problems can mimic a bad flame sensor. It is also worth inspecting the igniter and air filter, since restricted airflow or burner contamination can contribute to unreliable ignition.
