6602-001655 / 5PH2337 Drum Belt & DC93-00634A Idler Pulley Upgrade Kit
Key Features
- Upgraded Ball-Bearing Pulley: The DC93-00634A assembly features an upgraded internal ball-bearing design (replacing older plastic bushings), providing significantly smoother rotation and eliminating the common high-pitched "squeal" found in Samsung dryers.
- High-Tension EPDM Drum Belt: The 6602-001655 belt is manufactured from premium-grade EPDM rubber, engineered to resist stretching, drying, and cracking even under the extreme thermal stress of high-heat drying cycles.
- Reinforced Tension Arm: Includes the heavy-duty metal idler arm and a sturdy locking clip, ensuring the pulley remains perfectly aligned with the motor shaft to prevent the belt from slipping or "jumping" the track.
- 5-Rib Multi-Groove Traction: The 5PH2337 belt (approx. 92 inches) features a precision-molded 5-rib profile that maximizes surface contact with the motor pulley, providing consistent torque to rotate heavy, wet laundry loads.
- Noise Reduction Engineering: Specifically designed to reduce mechanical vibration and operational decibels, restoring the quiet, factory-new performance of your Samsung laundry suite.

Compatibility & Fitment
This belt and pulley kit is the primary drive restoration set for modern Samsung and Kenmore-branded dryers. Key compatible series include:
- Samsung DV Series: Fits hundreds of models including DV45H7000EW, DV48H7400EW, DV42H5000EW, DV40J3000EW, DV45K6500EW, and DV50F9A8EVP.
- Samsung DVE/DVG Series: Compatible with both Electric (DVE) and Gas (DVG) versions of the 45H, 48H, and 50F series.
- Kenmore (402 Series): Fits many 402-prefix models produced by Samsung for Sears (e.g., 402.89032010, 402.99032011).
- Note: The belt measures approximately 2337mm (92 inches). This is the standard length for Samsung 7.2 to 7.5 cu. ft. capacity dryers.
When to Replace
- The "Samsung Squeal": A loud, high-pitched chirping or squealing noise that starts when the dryer begins to turn, indicating the idler pulley bearing has seized or worn thin.
- Dryer Not Spinning: The motor runs (you can hear it humming), but the drum does not rotate, usually because the belt has snapped or the pulley arm has collapsed.
- Thumping or Rhythmic Tapping: A persistent thumping sound suggests the belt has a flat spot, a tear, or is beginning to fray.
- Burned Rubber Odor: If the idler pulley jams, the friction from the motor shaft against the stationary belt will create an acrid burning smell.
- Unit Stops Mid-Cycle: Many Samsung dryers will sense a motor over-torque condition if the idler pulley is dragging, causing the unit to shut down to prevent motor damage.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: You MUST unplug the dryer. This repair requires a near-complete disassembly of the front cabinet and removal of the drum.
- Access the Drive: You will need to remove the top panel, the control console, and the front door bulkhead to lift the drum and access the motor and idler pulley located at the bottom-rear.
- Routing the Belt: Route the belt around the drum with the ribs facing inward toward the drum. Loop the belt under the idler pulley and over the motor drive pulley in a "Z" or "S" configuration.
- The "Sturdy Clip" Security: Ensure the included metal clip is snapped firmly onto the idler pulley axle. This prevents the pulley from vibrating loose and causing a repeat failure.
- Vacuum the Blower: While the drum is out, use a long vacuum attachment to clean the blower housing and the heating element duct. Samsung dryers are prone to lint buildup which is a leading cause of part failure and fire hazards.
