DC97-18058C / DC97-18058A Laundry Appliance Cycle Selector Knob
Key Features
- Premium Chrome-Plated Finish: Manufactured with a high-luster metallic coating designed to match the original factory aesthetic of Samsung's front-load laundry suites while resisting corrosion and fingerprint smudges.
- Reinforced D-Shaft Interface: Features a precision-molded internal D-shaped socket that ensures a secure, slip-free fit on the control board's encoder shaft, restoring the accurate "click" of cycle selection.
- High-Impact Structural Polymer: The core of the knob is constructed from a heat-stabilized, high-density plastic that prevents the mounting stem from cracking or stripping under repeated use.
- Tactile Grip Design: Engineered with a contoured edge that provides a secure grip, allowing for effortless rotation even when hands are wet or soapy during laundry tasks.
- Clear Indicator Line: Features a high-contrast integrated pointer line that allows for easy and accurate identification of the selected washing or drying cycle at a glance.

Compatibility & Fitment
This cycle selector knob is the standard replacement for most modern Samsung-manufactured front-load laundry appliances. Key compatible series include:
- Samsung WF Series Washers: Fits hundreds of front-load washer models including WF42H5000AW, WF42H5200AW, WF45H6300AW, and WF45K6200AW.
- Samsung DV Series Dryers: Compatible with corresponding electric and gas dryer models including DV42H5000EW, DV45H6300EW, and DV45K6200EW.
- Samsung WW/DC Series: Fits various newer-generation high-efficiency washers and dryers utilizing the silver D-shaft knob style.
- Note: This knob is specifically for the D-shaped (half-moon) timer or encoder shaft. It will not fit circular or splined shafts.
When to Replace
- Knob Spins Freely: The internal plastic "D" socket has cracked or stripped, causing the knob to rotate without changing the cycle on the digital display.
- Knob Snapped Off: The mounting stem has completely sheared off, leaving the knob detached from the control panel.
- Visible Cracks: Hairline fractures appearing on the back of the knob near the shaft entry, indicating the plastic is reaching its fatigue limit.
- Cosmetic Peeling: The chrome finish has begun to peel or bubble, making the appliance look aged or poorly maintained.
- Misalignment: The indicator line no longer points correctly to the selected cycle because the internal stem has partially deformed.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: For your safety, ensure the appliance is off. While this is a purely mechanical repair, it is good practice to avoid turning the encoder shaft while the machine is mid-cycle.
- Simple Removal: In most cases, you can simply pull the old knob straight off the shaft. If it is stuck, you can slide a thin piece of cloth or a shoelace behind the knob to pull it evenly toward you.
- Shaft Alignment: Before installing the new DC97-18058C, look at the metal shaft on the control panel. Align the flat side of the "D" shaft with the flat side of the internal socket on the new knob.
- Push-to-Seat: Slide the knob onto the shaft and push firmly until it is flush with the console. Do not use a hammer or excessive force, as this can damage the sensitive electronic encoder on the control board.
- Zero-Calibration Check: Once installed, turn the knob through the full range of cycles to ensure the digital display accurately follows the indicator line on the knob.
