25-Watt R39 E17 Lava Lamp Replacement Bulb (2700K Warm White)
Key Features
- Engineered for Heat and Light: Specifically designed to produce the precise amount of concentrated thermal energy required to safely melt the wax in classic lava lamps and circulate the liquid in glitter lamps. (Note: LED bulbs will not work in lava lamps as they do not generate enough heat).
- R39 Reflector Shape: Features a specialized reflective coating on the lower half of the bulb that directs the light and heat straight upward into the glass globe, maximizing efficiency and wax flow.
- E17 Intermediate Base: Equipped with a standard E17 intermediate threaded base, fitting perfectly into the specific sockets used by most name-brand novelty lamps.
- Classic Ambient Glow: Emits a comfortable, relaxing 2700K Warm White light at 150 lumens, illuminating the moving wax in rich, vibrant colors without blinding the room.
- Fully Dimmable: Compatible with inline dimmer switches often found on premium or vintage lava lamps, allowing you to control the brightness and the flow rate of the wax.
Product Specifications & Fitment
- Bulb Shape: R39 (Reflector, 39mm diameter).
- Base Type: E17 (Intermediate Screw Base).
- Wattage & Voltage: 25 Watts / 120 Volts.
- Brightness & Color: 150 Lumens / 2700K (Warm White).
- General Application: 14.5-inch (20 oz) Lava Lamps, Glitter Lamps, and select small appliance fixtures.
Compatibility Warning
This 25W bulb is the standard replacement for most medium-sized (14.5-inch tall) novelty lamps. However, it is crucial to check your lamp's requirements:
- Do not use in 11.5-inch lamps: Smaller lamps usually require a 15W bulb. A 25W bulb will overheat the liquid and cause the wax to stay at the top or fragment into tiny, cloudy pieces.
- Do not use in 16.3-inch+ lamps: Larger Grande or 52oz lamps require a 40W bulb. A 25W bulb will not generate enough heat to melt the large volume of wax.
When to Replace
- Bulb is Dead: The lamp is plugged in and switched on, but there is no light, and the filament inside the glass is visibly broken.
- Wax Won't Melt: If the light turns on but the wax sits in a hard lump at the bottom after 4 hours, the bulb has aged and is no longer producing adequate heat, or the room is too cold (below 68°F).
- Blackened Glass: If the inside of the bulb glass has turned dark gray or black, it is at the very end of its lifespan and is producing a dimmer light and lower heat.
Installation & Safety Tips
- Safety First (CRITICAL): Always unplug the lamp from the wall outlet before changing the bulb.
- Beware of Extreme Heat: Incandescent lava lamp bulbs get incredibly hot during operation. If the bulb just burned out, let the lamp sit for at least 30 minutes before attempting to touch the metal base or the old glass bulb.
- Handle with Care: The R39 glass envelope is relatively thin. Screw the new bulb in gently using just two fingers to avoid crushing the glass in your hand.
- Seat the Globe Properly: After installing the new bulb, ensure the glass lava globe sits perfectly flat and centered on the metal base so it safely catches the direct upward heat from the reflector.
