W10876537 / W10724439 Dishwasher Drain Pump
Key Features
- High-Torque Synchronous Motor: Engineered with a powerful internal motor designed to provide consistent, high-torque startups even when debris is present, ensuring reliable drainage every cycle.
- Precision-Molded 3-Tab Twist-Lock: Features a standardized mounting interface that allows for a "quarter-turn" installation into the dishwasher sump housing without the need for complex tools.
- Integrated Nitrile Gasket: Includes a pre-installed, high-performance rubber O-ring that creates a watertight seal against the sump, preventing leaks even under the high-pressure conditions of the drain phase.
- Whisper-Quiet Operation: Specifically balanced to minimize vibration and mechanical resonance, reducing operational noise during the quietest parts of the wash cycle.
- Detergent & Heat Resistance: Manufactured from specialized polymers that withstand the caustic enzymes of dishwasher pods and the thermal stress of "Sanitize" cycles.

Compatibility & Fitment
This drain pump is the standard replacement for modern Whirlpool-manufactured tall-tub dishwashers produced after 2012. Key compatible brands and models include:
- Whirlpool: Fits WDT720PADM2, WDF320PADS2, WDT970SAHZ0, WDT730PAHZ0, and hundreds of other WDT/WDF series models.
- Maytag: Compatible with many MDB4949SHZ, MDB8959SFZ, and MDB7949SDZ high-end units.
- Kenmore (665 Series): Fits many 665-prefix dishwashers (e.g., 665.13263K311, 665.13293K116).
- KitchenAid & Amana: Direct fit for various KDTM, KDTE, and ADB series dishwashers utilizing the W10876537 pump style.
- Note: This pump is located at the Bottom of the Sump. Verify your model number matches the "W10" prefix style before ordering.
When to Replace
- Standing Water in Tub: The dishwasher finishes its cycle, but the bottom of the tub is still full of dirty water (and you’ve already checked for a clogged drain hose).
- Loud Grinding Noise: A loud mechanical noise occurs during the final minutes of the cycle, indicating the pump impeller is jammed or the motor bearings have failed.
- Drain Cycle Timeouts: The dishwasher stops mid-cycle and displays an "F9 E1" or "5E" error code (Long Drain) on the control panel.
- Water Leaking from Sump: Visible water dripping from the very bottom center of the dishwasher where the pump attaches to the tub.
- Pump Humming but Not Draining: The motor is receiving power (humming) but the impeller isn't spinning, often due to a snapped internal shaft or a small bone/glass shard jamming the blades.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: You MUST unplug the dishwasher or turn off the circuit breaker. This repair involves working directly with 120V electrical connectors underneath the unit.
- Drain the Tub Manually: Use a sponge or wet-vac to remove as much water as possible from the tub before removing the pump, otherwise, water will spill onto your floor when you twist the pump off.
- The Quarter-Turn Method: Most models require you to press a small locking tab on the pump body before you can twist it counter-clockwise to remove it. Reverse the motion to lock the new pump in.
- Check the Check Valve: While the pump is out, inspect the black rubber **Check Valve** in the drain port. If it’s torn or missing, dirty water will flow back into the dishwasher after the pump shuts off.
- Inspect for Debris: Look inside the sump hole for seeds, toothpicks, or glass shards before installing the new pump. If you don't clear the debris, it will likely jam your new pump immediately.
