When to Replace

No Rotation: The motor does not turn the glass tray, resulting in unevenly cooked food or cold spots.
Loud Noises: A persistent grinding, clicking, or loud humming sound originates from the bottom of the unit.
Intermittent Turning: The tray stutters, jerks, or stops and starts randomly during a cooking cycle.
Mechanical Failure: The internal plastic gears are stripped, or the shaft no longer engages with the coupler.

Installation Tips

Safety First: Unplug the microwave. High-voltage capacitors can hold a lethal charge; however, this repair is typically performed via the bottom access panel and does not require opening the main high-voltage cabinet.
Access: Lay the microwave on its side or back and remove the security screws on the bottom cover plate to expose the motor.
Orientation: Note the position of the wire terminals before disconnecting; the new motor should be installed in the same orientation to avoid straining the wires.
Shaft Alignment: Ensure the D-shaped shaft is fully seated into the plastic turntable coupler inside the microwave cavity before tightening the mounting screws.
Testing: After reassembly, place a cup of water on the tray and run a 30-second cycle to verify smooth, quiet rotation.
