4392067RC 4392067 Dryer Maintenance & Repair Kit
Key Features
- Complete Drive System Overhaul: A comprehensive 6-piece kit designed to restore the mechanical rotation of the drum, including four high-performance rollers, a reinforced drive belt, and a precision-tensioned idler pulley.
- Quiet-Run Drum Rollers: The W10314173 rollers feature a specialized rubber outer layer and high-grade internal bushings, engineered to eliminate the "thumping" and "squealing" sounds caused by flattened or seized factory rollers.
- High-Traction Ribbed Belt: The 661570V drive belt (approx. 93.5 inches) is manufactured from reinforced EPDM rubber with a 5-rib profile, providing maximum grip and resistance to stretching under heavy, wet laundry loads.
- Upgraded Idler Pulley Assembly: Includes an improved ball-bearing idler pulley that maintains constant tension on the belt, preventing slipping and reducing the mechanical vibration that leads to motor burnout.
- Snap-Lock Retention Hardware: Features a full set of replacement tri-rings and retaining clips, ensuring all rotating components are securely locked onto their shafts for safe, long-term operation.

Compatibility & Fitment
This master repair kit is specifically designed for Whirlpool-built 27-inch front-load and high-efficiency dryers. Key compatible series include:
- Whirlpool Cabrio & Duet: Fits hundreds of models including WED9200, WED9500, WED9250, and WED7500 series.
- Maytag Bravos XL & Epic: Compatible with MEDB850, MEDB950, MED9700, and MGD series high-capacity dryers.
- Kenmore Elite (110 Series): Fits the vast majority of HE (High Efficiency) 110-prefix models produced by Whirlpool for Sears.
- Amana & KitchenAid: Direct fit for many NED and KEDS series high-efficiency units.
- Note: This kit is intended for the "Thin" or "Standard" roller shafts found on Duet and Cabrio platforms. Verify your model number if your unit is an extra-wide steam model.
When to Replace
- Squealing or Chirping: A high-pitched noise usually indicates the idler pulley bearing is failing or the roller bushings have run dry.
- Persistent Thumping: A rhythmic thumping sound (even when the dryer is empty) suggests the rubber on the rollers has developed flat spots or has begun to peel.
- Drum Will Not Spin: The motor runs but the drum stays still, indicating the belt has snapped or the idler pulley arm has collapsed.
- Loud Grinding Noise: Significant metal-on-metal grinding sounds suggest the rollers have worn down completely, allowing the drum to rub against the internal bulkhead.
- Dryer Vibrates Heavily: If the rollers are out of round, the entire cabinet will vibrate, which can lead to early failure of the heating element or control board.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: You MUST unplug the dryer. This repair requires a complete disassembly of the front cabinet and removal of the drum.
- Accessing the Drive: You will need to remove the top panel, the control console, and the front bulkhead. Be careful with the door switch wiring during removal.
- The "Belt Grooves" Rule: When installing the new 661570V belt, ensure the ribbed side is facing down against the drum. The smooth side should be in contact with the idler pulley.
- Vacuum the Cabinet: **CRITICAL:** While the drum is removed, use a vacuum to clean the entire base of the dryer. Removing accumulated lint prevents motor overheating and significantly reduces fire hazards.
- Inspect the Shafts: Before sliding the new rollers on, wipe the metal shafts clean. Do not use oil or grease on the rollers; they are designed to run dry. If the shafts are scored or bent, they must be replaced separately.
