FAQs

This kit is designed for Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Roper washers. It is the standard medium cam kit, which is the most common size (approximately 2.25 inches). We recommend verifying your specific washer model number to ensure compatibility before installation.
This kit replaces OEM part numbers 285811, 2744, 285746, 285811VP, 3347410, 3351001, 3363663, 3948431, AH334650, EA334650, EAP334650, and AP3138838.
You likely need this repair kit if your washer is failing to agitate properly, spinning slowly, experiencing general spinning issues, or failing to dispense fabric softener and detergent correctly.
Replacing the agitator cam is a straightforward repair that typically takes 15 to 30 minutes. You will generally need a flat-head screwdriver to remove the agitator cap and a socket wrench or nut driver to remove the bolt securing the agitator to the drive shaft. Once the agitator is removed, the cam assembly can be swapped out easily.
The agitator cam and dog assembly are subject to constant mechanical stress and friction during every wash cycle. Over time, the plastic teeth or 'dogs' inside the cam wear down, preventing the top portion of the agitator from gripping the drive shaft. When this happens, the agitator may make a clicking or grinding noise and fail to move the clothes effectively.
