Compatibility & Fitment
This lid lock switch assembly is used in various top-load washing machines from GE and affiliated brands. Compatible models include:
- GE GTW Series: GTW465ASN1WW, GTW460ASJ3WW, GTW460ASJ2WW, GTW330ASK3WW, GTW220ACK1WW, GTW460ASJ0WW, GTW460ASJ1WW, GTW465ASN0WW.
- GE GTW220 Series: GTW220ACK2WW, GTW220ACK3WW, GTW220ACK4WW.
- Additional Brands: Fits select top-load models from Hotpoint and Kenmore (prefix 110) that utilize the GE-style latching system.
When to Replace
- Lid Fails to Lock: The machine hums or clicks several times but the "Locked" indicator light does not illuminate.
- Cycle Stalling: The washer fills with water but refuses to agitate or spin, often accompanied by a flashing lid lock light.
- Physical Damage: The plastic receiver port where the lid strike inserts is cracked, preventing a secure mechanical connection.
- Electrical Faults: The washer displays fault codes related to a "Lid Switch Circuit" or "Lock Monitor" failure.
- Fails to Unlock: The lid remains locked even after the cycle is finished and the power is disconnected.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: Completely disconnect the power cord and turn off the hot and cold water supply valves before servicing.
- Accessing the Component: Use a flat-head screwdriver or putty knife to release the hidden clips under the front corners of the top panel to tilt the console back.
- Harness Routing: Pay close attention to how the wiring harness is routed through the plastic clips to prevent the wires from being pinched when the top panel is lowered.
- Strike Alignment: Inspect the lid strike (the part attached to the lid) for damage; if it is bent, the new lock switch may not engage correctly.
- Resetting the Board: After installation, you may need to enter the service mode or unplug the machine for one minute to clear any stored error codes.
