FAQ

This switch is compatible with a wide range of riding lawn mowers and tractors from Husqvarna, Craftsman, Dixon, Cub Cadet, John Deere, MTD, Murray, and Poulan. It is specifically designed for models such as the John Deere L100, L105, L107, L110, L120, L130, G110, LY18, E100, D100, and LA100 series, as well as various AYP-manufactured chassis.
This unit replaces a large number of OEM part numbers, including Husqvarna/AYP 532175566, 532163968, 175566, 175442, 163968, 193350, 539107541, 583068901; John Deere GY20074; MTD/Cub Cadet 725-1741, 925-1741, 925-04227A, 925-04227B; and Murray 94762, 94762MA.
You likely need a new switch if you experience intermittent starting, the engine fails to crank even with a fully charged battery, the mower shuts off unexpectedly while running, or the headlights and accessories fail to turn on when the key is in the appropriate position. If you have to 'jiggle' the key to get the engine to turn over, the internal contacts are likely worn out.
Installation is straightforward and typically takes about 15–20 minutes. You will generally need a socket wrench or a nut driver to remove the dash panel, and a pair of pliers to remove the retaining nut holding the switch in place. Before starting, disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental shorts. Take a photo of the wiring harness before unplugging it to ensure the wires are reconnected to the correct terminals on the new switch.
These switches are exposed to harsh outdoor environments, including moisture, dust, and vibration. Over time, the internal metal contacts can oxidize or become pitted from electrical arcing, leading to poor conductivity. Additionally, if the mower is stored outside, moisture can seep into the keyway, causing internal corrosion that prevents the switch from completing the circuit to the starter solenoid or ignition coil.
If the mower still won't start after installing the new switch, check the safety interlock switches (seat, clutch/brake, and PTO switches) as these are wired in series with the ignition. Also, inspect the starter solenoid for clicking sounds, verify the battery terminals are clean and tight, and ensure the ground wire from the engine block is secure.
