When to Replace
- Replace the engine filter when it is visibly dirty, airflow is restricted, or engine performance and fuel efficiency are affected by a clogged filter.
- Replace the cabin filter when HVAC airflow is reduced, interior air becomes dusty or musty, or odors persist during ventilation.
- For routine maintenance, replace both filters every 12 months or 12,000-15,000 miles.
- Vehicles driven in dusty conditions, heavy traffic, or areas with seasonal pollen may require more frequent inspection.
Installation Tips
- Verify the replacement part numbers and filter dimensions against the vehicle's existing filters before installation.
- Install the engine filter in the engine air box and the cabin filter in the HVAC cabin-filter compartment, following the vehicle service instructions.
- Check the airflow-direction marking on the cabin filter and install it in the correct direction.
- Clean loose debris from the filter housings before fitting the new filters, taking care not to allow debris into the intake or HVAC system.
- Replace both filters together to simplify scheduled maintenance and maintain clean engine and cabin airflow.
