This humidifier water solenoid valve replaces B2015-S85, B2017-S85, 4040, and 4040-APR. Matching the number stamped on your existing valve is the most reliable way to verify compatibility.
A failed or restricted solenoid valve often causes little or no water flow to the humidifier. Common symptoms include the humidifier running without producing humidity, no water reaching the distribution tray or pad, a humming valve that does not open, or a valve that leaks or sticks. If the humidifier has correct 24V power at the valve but water still does not pass through, the valve is likely the cause.
This is a 24-volt solenoid valve rated at 2.3 watts and 60 Hz. It is engineered for humidifier water control applications using a 24V control circuit.
Installation is a straightforward repair. Typical steps include shutting off power to the humidifier, closing the water supply, disconnecting the two low-voltage wires, removing the inlet and outlet water connections, swapping the valve, and restoring power and water. You will need a screwdriver and two wrenches or adjustable pliers. The process generally takes about 20 to 45 minutes.
Before replacing the valve, verify that the humidifier is sending 24V to the solenoid during a call for humidity. Additionally, check for a clogged inlet strainer, kinked water line, blocked orifice, mineral buildup, a plugged evaporator pad, or a saddle valve with restricted flow. Hard water scale and sediment are common reasons these valves stop passing water even when the coil is energized.
