FAQ

GX26422 is used on select John Deere ZTrak zero-turn mowers, including Z325E, Z330M, Z330R, Z355E, Z355R, Z365R, and Z375R applications. This belt is also compatible with select 48-inch, 48A, 48TD, and 54-inch deck setups. Because John Deere used this belt across multiple deck configurations and serial-number breaks, match the belt part number and your mower's deck model before ordering.
Not necessarily. GX26422 is designed for specific deck versions and certain serial-number ranges. For example, it fits Z355E units with a 48-inch deck after serial number 060,001, as well as 48A and 48TD deck configurations on specific Z355E serial ranges. The safest check is to verify the model and serial tag on the mower and the deck, then confirm that GX26422 is the required belt number for that exact deck.
The replacement part number is GX26422. If your current belt is marked GX26422, this is the matching part number to compare against your existing belt and deck parts lookup.
Typical symptoms include the mower deck not engaging properly, weak or uneven blade speed, squealing when the PTO is turned on, a burning rubber smell, visible cracking or frayed belt edges, glazing on the belt surface, or the belt repeatedly jumping off the pulleys. On zero-turn mowers, a worn deck belt often shows up first as poor cut quality or blades that slow down in thicker grass.
For most John Deere ZTrak deck belt jobs, installation is a moderate repair. A typical DIY replacement takes about 30 to 90 minutes depending on deck access and whether covers need to be removed. Common tools include socket wrenches, a breaker bar or ratchet to relieve spring-tension idlers, work gloves, and a belt-routing reference. Before removing the old belt, take a photo of the routing and inspect every pulley for free rotation and wobble.
Inspect the spindle pulleys, idler pulleys, belt keepers, tensioner arm, and spring tension before installing the new belt. A new belt can fail early if a pulley bearing is rough, an idler is seized, the belt guides are bent, or the deck is packed with grass and debris. Also clean the deck top, confirm the belt is routed fully into every pulley groove, and make sure the tensioner moves smoothly through its full range.
The most common causes are normal wear, heat buildup, debris packed around pulleys, misrouted installation, weak tensioners, worn spindle or idler bearings, and running the deck with misaligned pulleys. Hitting stumps or heavy brush can also shock-load the belt. If the old belt shows one-sided wear, that usually points to alignment or pulley issues rather than belt age alone.
