F273699 Propane Fuel Filter & 6FT Hose Adapter Kit
Key Features
- CSA Certified Safety: Both the hose and filter assembly are CSA certified, ensuring they meet rigorous North American safety standards for high-pressure propane gas handling and leak resistance.
- Contaminant & Oil Filtration: The F273699 filter is specifically engineered to trap heavy hydrocarbons and oily plasticizers found in bulk propane tanks, preventing them from clogging the sensitive regulator and pilot ODS of your heater.
- High-Pressure Reinforced Hose: The 6-foot hose is constructed from weather-resistant, fiber-reinforced polymer, providing the durability needed for outdoor use and the flexibility to keep your 20-45 lb tank at a safe distance.
- Tool-Free QCC1 Adapter: Features a standard Type 1 (QCC1) connector with a large, ergonomic hand-tighten knob, allowing for a secure, leak-free connection to any standard US propane cylinder without a wrench.
- Internal Brass Fittings: Equipped with solid brass connectors that resist corrosion and stripping, ensuring a precision fit on both the heater’s 1"-20 throwaway cylinder threads and the bulk tank valve.

Compatibility & Fitment
This filter and hose kit is designed specifically for portable propane heaters that typically run on 1lb cylinders but are being converted for use with bulk tanks. Key compatible models include:
- Mr. Heater Buddy Series: Fits the Portable Buddy (F232000, MH9B), Big Buddy (F232017, MH18B), and Hunting Buddy (F232050, MH12B).
- Mr. Heater Tough Buddy: Compatible with various industrial-grade portable units utilizing the 1"-20 female thread inlet.
- Other Brands: Works with most portable propane appliances that utilize a 1lb bottle connection, including tabletop grills and camping stoves.
- Tank Fitment: Connects directly to standard 20 lb, 30 lb, and 45 lb propane cylinders (standard BBQ style tanks).
- Note: If you use a Mr. Heater "Green Label" hose (F273704), a filter is **required**. If you use the "Black Label" Buddy Hose (F271803), a filter is typically not needed as that hose does not leach oils.
When to Replace
- Filter Change Interval: The fuel filter should be replaced annually or after every 20-40 lbs of propane usage to ensure the heater's pilot light doesn't become gummed up.
- Heater Won't Stay Lit: If the pilot flame is small, yellow, or constantly goes out, the filter may be saturated with oils and is restricting gas flow.
- Hose Stiffness or Cracking: Exposure to UV rays and extreme cold can cause the hose to become brittle. Replace immediately if you see any surface "checking" or cracks in the rubber.
- Smell of Propane: If you detect the "rotten egg" scent of mercaptan near the hose or filter, use soapy water to check for leaks. If the leak is in the hose body, replace the entire kit.
- Oil in the Line: If you disconnect the hose and see a dark, oily liquid inside the connector, your current filter is full and must be replaced.
Installation Tips
- Filter Position: **CRITICAL:** The F273699 filter MUST be installed directly into the heater's swivel connector. The hose then connects to the filter. Do not install the filter at the tank side.
- Hand Tighten Only: The QCC1 tank adapter and the 1"-20 heater connector are designed for hand-tightening. Using a wrench can over-compress the internal gaskets and cause leaks.
- The Soap Bubble Test: After connecting to a full tank, spray a mixture of dish soap and water on all connections. If bubbles grow, the connection is not secure.
- Purge the Air: When using a 6ft hose for the first time, it will be full of air. Hold the heater's pilot knob down for 30–60 seconds to "bleed" the air out before attempting to click the igniter.
- Keep it Clean: When not in use, keep the dust caps on the hose ends. A single grain of sand inside the filter or hose can ruin the heater's delicate internal regulator.
