1-Inch (25mm) Non-Slip Motorcycle Hand Grips

Key Features

  • Ergonomic Non-Slip Texture: Features a high-traction knurled or "pillowed" rubber surface that ensures a secure grip in wet or sweaty conditions, providing better throttle control and safety.
  • Vibration Dampening: Manufactured with a dual-compound rubber core that absorbs high-frequency engine vibrations, significantly reducing hand numbness and fatigue on long highway rides.
  • Aviation-Grade Aluminum Accents: Finished with CNC-machined aluminum end caps and collars for a custom "blacked-out" or chrome appearance that resists corrosion.
  • Universal 1" Inner Diameter: Specifically sized for standard cruiser-style handlebars, allowing for a precise fit on both the clutch side and the throttle sleeve.
  • Glue-Free Installation: Many models feature a precision-fit inner sleeve that can be secured with standard grip adhesive or set screws for a permanent, no-slip mounting.

Compatibility & Fitment

These grips are designed for motorcycles equipped with 1-inch (25mm) diameter handlebars. Key compatible models include:

  • Harley-Davidson Sportster: XL883, XL1200, Iron 883, Forty-Eight, Seventy-Two.
  • Harley-Davidson Dyna: Street Bob, Low Rider, Wide Glide, Fat Bob.
  • Harley-Davidson Softail: Heritage, Fat Boy, Slim, Deluxe, Breakout.
  • Harley-Davidson Touring: Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Road King, Tour Glide.
  • Note: Not compatible with models equipped with "Electronic Throttle" (Fly-By-Wire) or 7/8" (22mm) handlebars common on metric sportbikes.

When to Replace

  • Sticky or "Gummy" Surface: The rubber compound has broken down due to UV exposure and oils, leaving a black residue on your gloves or hands.
  • Visible Tearing: The rubber is cracked at the ends or torn along the grip pattern, which can lead to slipping during hard acceleration.
  • Throttle Binding: The grip is rubbing against the handlebar housing or has slid too far inward, preventing the throttle from snapping back freely.
  • Excessive Vibration: The internal dampening material has hardened over time, no longer protecting your hands from engine buzz.

Installation Tips

  • The Size Difference: Note that the two grips in the set are different. The grip with the larger inner diameter is for the throttle side (to slide over the throttle sleeve), and the smaller one is for the left (clutch) side.
  • Removal: If the old grips are stuck, carefully slice them lengthwise with a utility knife (avoiding the handlebar) or use compressed air to "float" them off.
  • Lubrication: Use a small amount of Isopropyl alcohol or specialized grip glue inside the grip to help it slide on. Do not use grease or WD-40, as the grips will never stop sliding.
  • Alignment: Quickly align the logo or grip pattern before the glue sets (usually within 30–60 seconds).
  • Safety Check: After installation, ensure the throttle rotates smoothly and snaps back to the closed position without any interference from the new grip.

FAQ

These grips are intended for Harley models that use 1-inch handlebars, including many Dyna, Sportster 883, Sportster 1200, Road Glide, Softail, Street Glide, and Tour Glide setups. Fitment depends on both the handlebar diameter and your throttle-side configuration, so it is best to confirm your bike uses standard 1-inch bars before ordering.
They may fit many motorcycles that use 1-inch bars, but motorcycles with electronic throttle-by-wire systems, bar-end weights, heated grips, or non-standard throttle tubes can require a different grip design. The most important checks are bar diameter, throttle tube style, and whether your current grips have any built-in wiring or locking features.
Common signs include a slippery surface, cracking or hardening rubber, grip movement on the bar, uneven wear between left and right sides, hand vibration discomfort, or damaged grip ends. Replacing worn grips can improve control and rider comfort.
Installation is usually a basic to moderate job. Typical tools and supplies can include a hex key or screwdriver for bar-end hardware if equipped, a utility blade for removing old grips, grip adhesive or approved grip cement, and cleaner to remove old residue. Many installs take about 20 to 45 minutes, depending on whether the old grips are glued on and whether your motorcycle has accessories attached to the bars.
Before installation, inspect the handlebar ends and throttle tube for rust, burrs, leftover adhesive, or cracks. Make sure the throttle tube rotates freely and snaps back correctly before and after installing the new right-side grip. If the bars or throttle tube are dirty or damaged, clean or repair those parts first to avoid poor grip fitment or throttle sticking.
Grip wear is commonly caused by UV exposure, heat, moisture, oils from hands or cleaners, constant vibration, and normal friction from riding gloves. On frequently ridden bikes, the throttle-side grip often wears faster because it is twisted repeatedly during use.
Many grip installations do use grip adhesive or grip cement, especially if the grips are a smooth slip-on style. Some riders also use compressed air to help slide grips into place during installation. Avoid using products that can leave the grips loose or allow them to rotate after curing.
