FAQ

This kit is designed for Kawasaki 13HP FJ400D engines used in E-Z-GO gas vehicles, including RXV (2008-up), TXT (2010-2015), and Valor (2010-2014). Based on cross-reference listings, it is also commonly associated with E-Z-GO ST 400, MPT 800, MPT 1200, Refresher, Refresher 1200, and Woods Boundary MAV 400, plus Cushman 2/4/6-passenger Bellhop, 280, and Commander 2200 models that use the Kawasaki FJ400D engine. Match your engine model and part numbers before ordering.
Known replacement numbers for this carburetor kit include 808656, 602061, 72873G01, and 607954. Verify the number on your original carburetor or parts list to confirm fitment.
Typical symptoms include hard starting, no-start with spark present, surging at idle, hesitation on acceleration, poor throttle response, fuel starvation under load, flooding, fuel leakage, or an engine that only runs with choke applied. Because this kit includes a fuel pump, it can also help when the engine is not getting consistent fuel delivery from the tank to the carburetor.
For most golf cart owners or small-engine DIYers, this is usually a moderate repair. Basic hand tools are typically enough: screwdrivers, pliers for hose clamps, a socket set or nut driver set, and possibly picks for old fuel lines or gaskets. Plan on about 45 to 90 minutes depending on access and whether you are also replacing the fuel pump and cleaning old fuel residue from the lines and intake area.
Before installation, drain stale fuel, inspect the fuel tank for contamination, and check the fuel lines, pulse/vacuum line to the pump, air filter, intake gaskets, and shutoff valve if equipped. If the old carburetor failed because of varnish or debris, replacing the carb alone may not solve the problem unless the tank and lines are cleaned as well. It is also smart to inspect the spark plug and confirm fresh fuel is reaching the new pump.
The most common causes are stale gasoline, ethanol-related varnish buildup, debris from aging fuel lines or the tank, water contamination, and long storage periods. These problems can clog the idle and main circuits, stick the float needle, or reduce fuel-pump performance. Restricted airflow from a dirty air filter or intake leaks can also create poor running symptoms that look like carburetor trouble.
