A worn or failed auger belt typically causes the auger or impeller to stop turning, turn only intermittently, or slip badly under load. You may notice the engine runs normally but the machine will not pull snow into the housing, throws snow weakly, or makes a squealing or burning-rubber sound when the auger handle is engaged.
