When to Replace
- Housing is cracked, broken, or excessively worn from ground contact.
- Line fails to advance properly when the head is tapped.
- Trimmer line frequently melts, jams, or tangles inside the spool.
- Line exit eyelets are worn through, causing premature line breakage.
- Excessive vibration is felt during operation.
Installation Tips
- Disconnect the spark plug wire before starting work.
- Lock the trimmer's gear head from rotating, typically by inserting a small screwdriver or pin into the designated locking hole.
- Unscrew the old trimmer head by turning it clockwise (it has a left-hand thread).
- Thread the new head on by turning it counter-clockwise until it is hand-tight.
- Do not use tools to overtighten the new head onto the shaft.
