Installation Tips

  • Ensure the propane tank valve is completely closed before installation.
  • Hand-tighten the QCC1 connector to the propane tank. Do not use tools on this connection.
  • Use an appropriate wrench to secure the 3/8-inch flare fitting to the appliance's inlet for a tight seal.
  • If using the NPT adapter, apply sealant tape to the male NPT threads only. Do not use tape on flare fittings.
  • After all connections are made, open the tank valve slowly and check all joints for leaks using a soapy water solution before lighting the appliance.

FAQ

This 0-30 PSI adjustable regulator is designed for high-pressure propane applications. It is commonly used with turkey fryers, smokers, camp stoves, torches, and heaters that require a high-pressure gas supply. It is not intended for low-pressure appliances like standard gas grills.
The 3/8" flare fitting is a standard industry size for high-pressure propane hoses. It ensures a metal-to-metal seal when tightened, which is necessary for safety when handling high-pressure gas. Ensure your appliance's intake fitting is also a 3/8" male flare to ensure a proper connection.
If your appliance is labeled for 'high pressure' or features an adjustable control knob that significantly changes the flame intensity, it likely requires an adjustable high-pressure regulator. Do not use this regulator on appliances designed for fixed low-pressure (11 inches of water column) systems, as it will cause dangerous flare-ups and damage the appliance's valves.
You should replace your regulator if you notice inconsistent flame height, a yellow or 'lazy' flame, or if the appliance fails to ignite even when the tank has fuel. Additionally, if you detect a propane odor near the regulator or if the hose shows signs of cracking, dry rot, or physical damage, it must be replaced immediately.
Installation is straightforward and typically requires only an adjustable wrench to tighten the 3/8" flare nut onto your appliance's inlet. Always use a leak detection solution (soapy water) on all connections after installation to ensure there are no bubbles indicating a gas leak before lighting the appliance.
Always start with the regulator knob in the 'off' or lowest pressure position before opening the propane tank valve. This prevents a sudden surge of high-pressure gas from hitting the appliance's internal components, which can damage seals or trigger the tank's excess flow safety device.
