FAQ

This valve is designed for plastic fuel tanks on a wide range of portable generators and pressure washers. It is compatible with equipment from Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Generac, Craftsman, Snapper, and Troy-Bilt, specifically covering various 2500–2900 PSI pressure washers and portable generators ranging from 3250 to 8000 watts.
This kit replaces Briggs & Stratton 192980GS, 208961, 78299GS, and 80270GS. It is also a direct replacement for Kohler 25 462 03-S (25-462-03-S), Rotary 13116, and Oregon 07-407.
Installation is straightforward but requires care to ensure a proper seal. First, drain the fuel tank completely and remove it from the unit. Remove the old valve and grommet. Install the new rubber grommet into the tank hole first, then firmly press the 90-degree valve into the center of the grommet until it is seated securely.
The most common signs are visible fuel leaks around the base of the valve where it meets the tank, or a valve handle that has become stiff, seized, or broken, preventing you from turning the fuel supply on or off. If the rubber grommet has become brittle or cracked due to age and ethanol exposure, it will no longer maintain a leak-free seal.
The primary cause of failure is the degradation of the rubber grommet, which loses its elasticity and cracks when exposed to modern ethanol-blended fuels. Additionally, internal debris or fuel varnish can clog the valve mechanism, causing it to stick or leak internally.
Ensure the hole in the fuel tank is clean and free of any old rubber residue before inserting the new grommet. If the fit is very tight, you can use a tiny amount of dish soap or fuel-safe lubricant on the outside of the grommet to help it slide into the tank hole more easily. Always double-check for leaks with a small amount of fuel before refilling the tank to capacity.
