15-inch Propane Regulator Copper Pigtail Hose - POL x 1/4" NPT Male Pipe Thread

Key Features

  • Length: 15 inches
  • Tubing Material: Copper
  • Inlet Connection: Male POL (CGA-510) with left-hand thread
  • Outlet Connection: 1/4 inch Male NPT with right-hand thread
  • Design: Provides an unrestricted, full-flow connection between a propane tank and a high-pressure regulator.

Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers

  • Direct replacement for pigtail hoses with identical specifications (15-inch length, POL inlet, 1/4" MNPT outlet).

Compatibility & Fitment

  • Fits propane tanks with a POL valve, commonly found on 5 lb to 100 lb cylinders.
  • Connects to the inlet port of first-stage or high-pressure regulators that accept a 1/4 inch Female NPT fitting.
  • Suitable for use in RVs, campers, and residential propane systems.

When to Replace

  • Visible damage such as cracks, kinks, or severe corrosion on the tubing or fittings.
  • Leaks are detected at the connection points or along the hose body.
  • The hose has become excessively stiff or brittle.
  • During scheduled replacement of system components like regulators.

Installation Tips

  • Ensure the propane cylinder valve is fully closed before beginning installation.
  • Tighten the POL fitting by turning it counter-clockwise (left-hand thread) into the tank valve.
  • Apply a pipe thread sealant or gas-rated tape to the 1/4" NPT male threads before connecting to the regulator.
  • Tighten the NPT fitting by turning it clockwise (right-hand thread). Do not overtighten.
  • After installation is complete, slowly open the tank valve and check all connections for leaks using a soapy water solution.

4 SIMPLE STEPS

4 SIMPLE STEPS

Step 1: Turn off the gas supply; Step 2: Screw the POL Flare thread into the propane tank valve; Step 3: Tighten the 1/4" NPT fitting to the regulator; Step 4: Turn on the gas supply and check for sealing bubbles with soapy water and if there is a leak, tighten again until normal.

FAQ

This hose has a POL tank-side connection on one end and a 1/4-inch NPT male pipe thread on the other. The POL end is the style commonly used to connect to many propane cylinders, while the 1/4-inch NPT male end threads into a regulator or propane supply component with a matching 1/4-inch female pipe-thread port.
It is commonly used as a short connection between a propane cylinder and a regulator assembly. Typical applications include RV propane systems, dual-tank changeover regulator setups, grills, heaters, and other LP gas equipment that uses a POL cylinder connection and a 1/4-inch female NPT inlet on the regulator side.
Match both end connections exactly: your tank must accept a POL connection, and your regulator or gas component must have a 1/4-inch female NPT port. Also confirm that a 15-inch hose length works for your tank and regulator mounting position without stretching, kinking, or sharp bends. If your system uses a Type 1/QCC1 hand-tight tank connector instead of POL, this is not the same connection style.
Common symptoms include the smell of propane near the tank or regulator, cracking or stiffness in the hose, visible corrosion at the fittings, gas flow problems, or bubbling during a leak test. Damage from weather exposure, vibration, age, or improper routing can also mean the hose should be replaced.
Installation is usually straightforward if the fittings match your system. In most cases, you will need two appropriately sized wrenches so you can hold the regulator or mating fitting while tightening the hose connection. Shut off the propane supply first, work in a well-ventilated area, and avoid overtightening pipe-thread connections.
The 1/4-inch NPT pipe-thread side may require a gas-rated thread sealant approved for propane, depending on your application and existing setup. The POL connection seals differently and should not be treated the same way as a pipe-thread joint. Follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions and only use sealants rated for LP gas service.
After installation, slowly open the tank valve and perform a leak test on all disturbed connections using a proper leak-detection solution. Check that the hose is routed away from heat, sharp edges, and moving parts, and make sure it is not twisted or kinked. If bubbles appear during the leak test, shut off the gas and correct the connection before use.
