Compatibility & Fitment

  • Designed for RVs, travel trailers, and campers with a two-stage auto-changeover LP regulator system.
  • Connects standard 5 lb to 40 lb propane tanks directly to the regulator's 1/4 inch female inverted flare inlet.
  • Note: This hose has a 1/4 inch male inverted flare end. It is NOT compatible with 1/4 inch NPT fittings.

When to Replace

  • Visible damage to the hose, including cracks, abrasions, cuts, or worn spots in the stainless steel braiding.
  • The hose has become excessively stiff or brittle.
  • Leaks are detected at fittings or along the hose length (use soapy water to test).
  • The integrated pressure gauge is broken, inaccurate, or unreadable.

Installation Tips

  • Ensure the propane tank service valve is fully closed before installation.
  • Hand-tighten the QCC1 nut onto the propane tank valve until secure.
  • Apply the included thread seal tape to the male inverted flare threads before connecting to the regulator.
  • Use an appropriate wrench to tighten the 1/4 inch inverted flare fitting onto the regulator. Do not over-tighten.
  • After connecting both ends, slowly open the tank valve and check all connections for leaks with a soapy water solution. Bubbles indicate a leak.

FAQ

These 15-inch propane pigtail hoses are intended to connect a 5 lb to 40 lb propane tank with a QCC1/Type 1 tank connection to an RV-style two-stage regulator. They are commonly used between the cylinder valve and the regulator on campers, travel trailers, and similar LP gas setups.
Yes. Because this is a 2-pack of propane pigtail hoses, they are suited for many dual-cylinder RV systems that use two propane tanks feeding a two-stage regulator. You should still confirm that your regulator inlet and tank connection style match your current hoses before ordering.
The gauge gives a quick visual indication of propane status at the tank connection, which can help you notice when fuel is running low or when pressure appears abnormal. It is useful for routine checks, but it should not replace proper leak testing or a full diagnostic if your LP system is not operating correctly.
Common signs include cracking, stiffness, abrasion, corrosion at the fittings, regulator flow problems, a propane odor near the hose connection, or visible damage to the braided exterior. If your current hoses are old, weather-exposed, or difficult to seal without leaks, replacement is a good safety step.
Installation is usually straightforward for someone replacing existing RV propane pigtails. In many cases, the QCC1 tank side is hand-tightened, while the regulator-side fitting may require a wrench. Plan on about 10 to 20 minutes for a typical swap. After installation, always open the tank slowly and perform a leak test with an approved leak-detection solution on every connection.
No. Thread seal tape should only be used where the fitting type actually requires it. Many propane fittings seal with a flare or gasketed connection and do not use tape on those sealing surfaces. Using tape in the wrong place can interfere with sealing. Match the installation method to the fitting style on your regulator and hose ends.
Inspect the tank valve outlets, regulator inlet fittings, mounting condition of the two-stage regulator, and the age and condition of the rest of the LP system. Also check for dirt, oil, damaged threads, or old sealing material on the mating connections. If your regulator is old or you have persistent low-flow issues, the regulator itself may also need attention.
They commonly wear out from sun exposure, heat, road vibration, repeated tank changes, moisture, and general aging of the hose material and fittings. Even with stainless braided protection, the inner hose and seals can still deteriorate over time, especially in outdoor RV service.
