The grommet features an inner diameter of 3/8 inch, an outer diameter of 1-1/16 inches, and a height of 5/8 inch. It is specifically sized to provide a secure, leak-proof seal in a 33/64-inch fuel tank opening.
The most common sign is a visible fuel leak around the fuel line or shut-off valve connection at the tank. Over time, the rubber can become brittle, crack, or harden due to exposure to ethanol-blended fuels, causing the seal to fail. If you notice dampness or fuel residue around the base of the fuel fitting, the grommet should be replaced to prevent safety hazards.
Ensure the fuel tank is completely empty before starting. When installing the new grommet, clean the mounting hole thoroughly to remove any debris or old rubber residue.
