DG94-00520A Gas Range Oven Burner Igniter
Key Features
- Rapid-Glow Ignition Technology: Engineered to reach operating temperatures of 2000°F to 2800°F within 60 seconds, ensuring the gas valve opens promptly and the burner lights efficiently every time.
- Protective Stainless Steel Shield: Features a high-grade perforated metal cage that protects the fragile silicon carbide element from physical damage and falling debris while allowing for maximum heat dissipation.
- Precision Safety Interlock: Acts as a critical safety component; the igniter must draw a specific amount of current (Amperage) to trigger the gas valve, preventing gas from flowing if the igniter is not hot enough to light it.
- High-Temperature Ceramic Block: The mounting base is constructed from premium ceramic to withstand the intense thermal stress of the oven cavity without cracking or losing its structural integrity.

Compatibility & Fitment
This hot surface igniter is the primary ignition component for the vast majority of modern Samsung gas ranges. Key compatible series include:
- Samsung NX58 Series: Fits hundreds of models including NX58F5500SS, NX58H5600SS, NX58J5600SG, and NX58M6630SS.
- Samsung NX60 Series: Compatible with newer 6.0 cu. ft. models such as NX60A6511SS and NX60T8511SG.
- Samsung FX Series: Direct fit for FX510BGS and FX710BGS models.
- Kenmore (402 Series): Fits many high-efficiency gas ranges produced by Samsung for Sears.
- Note: While this is primarily a Bake Igniter (bottom), in many Samsung models, it is also used as the Broil Igniter (top). Verify your model uses the same part for both functions before ordering.
When to Replace
- Oven Won't Heat: The most common sign; the oven turns on and you may hear the "click" of the relay, but the igniter stays dark and no flame appears.
- Fails to Light (Glows but no Flame): The igniter glows orange but does not get hot enough to reach the required amperage to open the gas safety valve.
- Slow Heating: The oven takes significantly longer than 10–15 minutes to reach 350°F, indicating a weak igniter that is struggling to stay hot.
- Inconsistent Temperatures: The oven lights initially but fails to re-ignite during the cycle to maintain the set temperature.
- Visible Damage: Upon inspection, the black silicon carbide element inside the cage shows visible cracks or white "pitting" marks.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: You MUST unplug the range and shut off the gas supply. This repair involves high-voltage electricity and flammable gas.
- The "Fragile" Warning: **CRITICAL:** Do not touch the black/gray element with your bare hands. Skin oils can cause "hot spots" that lead to premature failure. If touched, clean gently with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.
- Accessing the Igniter: Remove the oven racks and the bottom metal floor pan (usually held by two screws at the back). You may also need to remove the flame spreader/fire shield.
- Wiring Splicing: While this part comes with a connector, some older models may require you to cut the old wires and use the included ceramic wire nuts to splice the new igniter into the harness. Ceramic nuts are required because plastic ones will melt.
- Test Before Reassembly: After mounting the new igniter but before replacing the floor pan, briefly turn the oven on to confirm the igniter glows bright orange and the gas ignites within 30–60 seconds.
