DG94-00520A Oven Burner Igniter
Key Features
- Rapid-Glow Silicon Carbide Element: Engineered to reach peak ignition temperatures within 30 to 60 seconds, ensuring a swift and reliable light-up for the gas burner.
- Dual-Function Compatibility: Specifically designed for use in both standard gas ranges and high-end microwave oven combos, providing the high-amperage draw necessary to trigger the safety gas valve.
- Perforated Stainless Steel Shield: Features a reinforced protective cage that guards the fragile ceramic heating element against physical impact and spills while optimizing heat radiation.
- High-Amperage Safety Interlock: Acts as a critical electrical resistor; the gas valve will only open when the igniter draws the exact current required, preventing gas flow during partial electrical failure.
- Direct Plug-and-Play Design: Features a standardized two-pin male/female connector and ceramic insulated leads, allowing for a fast, tool-free electrical connection in most modern Samsung cabinets.
Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers
- Primary Part: DG94-00520A.

Compatibility & Fitment
This hot surface igniter is the standard ignition component for Samsung-manufactured gas ranges and wall oven/microwave combos. Key compatible series include:
- Samsung Microwave Oven Combos: Fits various NQ70 and NQ75 series wall oven combinations (e.g., NQ70M6650DS/AA, NQ70M7770DS/AA).
- Samsung NX58 & NX60 Series: Compatible with hundreds of free-standing models including NX58H5600SS, NX58F5500SS, and NX60T8511SG.
- Samsung FX & NE Series: Fits various high-capacity gas ranges (e.g., FX510BGS, FX710BGS).
- Kenmore (402 Series): Compatible with 402-prefix gas ranges and oven combos produced by Samsung for Sears.
- Note: In microwave-oven combos, this igniter is typically located in the lower oven cavity. Always verify if your specific unit uses the same part for both the bake and broil functions.
When to Replace
- Oven Won't Light: The oven control board sends power, and the igniter may even glow faintly, but the gas valve never clicks open to release fuel.
- "tE" or "HE" Error Codes: Modern Samsung displays may throw these codes when the sensor detects that the burner hasn't reached ignition temperature within the allotted safety window.
- Intermittent Heating: The oven lights for the first cycle but fails to re-ignite during the "cool-down" phase to maintain the set temperature.
- Delayed Ignition (The "Poof" Sound): The igniter takes too long to reach full temperature, causing gas to pool in the cavity before finally igniting with a small bang.
- Visible White Cracks: Upon inspection, the black element shows visible white lines or "pitting," which indicates the ceramic is breaking down and losing its resistance.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: Unplug the unit and turn off the gas supply. Microwave oven combos are heavy and often built-in; ensure you have adequate support if sliding the unit out for access.
- The "Fragile" Rule: **CRITICAL:** Do not touch the black silicon carbide element with your bare fingers. Natural skin oils can create "hot spots" that cause the igniter to crack the first time it heats up.
- Accessing the Burner: For most ovens, remove the racks and the bottom floor plate. The igniter is usually held in place by two 1/4" hex screws on the side of the burner tube.
- Check the Harness: While the connector is standard, check for any singed or melted wires in the original harness. If the old wires are damaged, they must be trimmed back and connected with ceramic wire nuts.
- Amperage Check: A healthy DG94-00520A should draw between 3.2 and 3.6 Amps when fully hot. If you have a clamp-on ammeter, you can test this before reassembling the oven floor.
