It also fits selected Exmark Quest S-Series and E-Series 42-inch deck models. Always match both the deck size and part number before ordering.
This belt replaces OEM part numbers 119-8819, 119-8819-SL, 147-2924, and 147-2924-SL. If your existing belt or parts manual specifies any of these numbers for a 42-inch Toro TimeCutter or Exmark Quest deck, this is the correct replacement.
This is the deck drive belt that transfers power from the electric clutch to the spindle pulleys on the 42-inch mower deck. In normal operation, it drives the blades whenever the PTO is engaged.
Typical symptoms include blades not engaging, weak or inconsistent cutting, squealing when the PTO is turned on, belt slipping under heavy grass load, visible cracking or fraying, glazing on the belt sides, or a belt that has stretched enough to jump off the pulleys. If the deck suddenly stops cutting but the engine still runs normally, the belt is one of the first items to inspect.
For most Toro TimeCutter and Exmark Quest 42-inch decks, belt replacement is a moderate DIY repair. It commonly takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Typical tools include a socket or wrench set, pliers for spring-loaded idler tension if needed, and a way to safely raise or access the deck. Taking a photo of the old belt routing before removal helps prevent installation errors.
Inspect the idler pulleys, spindle pulleys, belt keepers, tensioner arm, and electric clutch pulley for wear or damage. Spin each pulley by hand and listen for rough bearings or wobble. Clean packed grass from the deck and confirm the belt guides are not bent. A new belt can fail early if installed on seized pulleys, a weak tensioner, or a deck with misaligned belt keepers.
The most common causes are normal wear, heat buildup, pulley misalignment, weak tension, worn spindle or idler bearings, and shock loads from engaging the blades at high engine speed. Heavy buildup under the deck and repeated mowing in dense or wet grass can also overheat the belt and shorten its life.
