12W Motion Sensor & Dusk-to-Dawn Security LED Bulb (5000K Daylight)

Key Features

  • Dual-Sensor Technology: Integrates both a photocell (light sensor) and a PIR (Passive Infrared) motion sensor. The bulb remains completely off during the day, arming itself only when the sun goes down.
  • Hands-Free Security: Once dark, the bulb will automatically turn on when it detects human, animal, or vehicle movement within its range, serving as an excellent visual deterrent for unwanted nighttime visitors.
  • Auto Shut-Off: To maximize energy savings, the light will automatically turn itself off after approximately 30 to 60 seconds of no detected movement, eliminating the need to ever touch a light switch.
  • Ultra-Bright Daylight: Emits a crisp, high-visibility 5000K Daylight glow. This bright white temperature provides maximum contrast and clarity, perfect for security cameras capturing nighttime footage.
  • Massive Energy Savings: Consumes only 12 watts of power while delivering the heavy-duty brightness of a traditional 100-watt incandescent bulb. Because it only runs when needed, energy costs are practically zero.

Product Specifications

  • Base Type: E26 (Standard Medium Screw Base).
  • Wattage & Voltage: 12 Watts (100W Equivalent) / 120 Volts AC.
  • Color Temperature: 5000 Kelvin (Daylight / Cool White).
  • Detection Range: Approximately 10 to 15 feet (120-degree angle).
  • Sensor Types: PIR Motion Detector + Photocell (Light Sensor).

Compatibility & Applications

This intelligent E26 bulb is perfect for upgrading standard fixtures into automated security lights without the need for expensive electrical wiring or new hardware:

  • Outdoor Entryways: Front porches, back doors, and patio fixtures where you need light to find your keys but don't want to leave a light burning all night.
  • Driveways & Garages: Illuminates the path automatically as your car pulls in, or lights up the inside of a dark garage the moment you open the door.
  • Indoor Utility Areas: Excellent for dark basements, attics, walk-in closets, and stairwells where your hands are often full and you can't reach a switch.

Installation & Usage Tips

  • Leave the Switch ON (CRITICAL): For the bulb to function automatically, your physical wall switch must be left in the "ON" position 24/7. The internal sensors will handle the rest.
  • Do Not Enclose in Glass (PRO TIP): PIR motion sensors require a direct line of sight to detect body heat. If you install this bulb inside a fully enclosed glass or plastic fixture (like a sealed porch lantern), the sensor will be blocked and it will not detect motion.
  • Mind the Spacing: If you are installing two of these bulbs on the same porch, keep them at least 6 to 10 feet apart. If they are too close, the light from the first bulb will hit the light sensor of the second bulb, tricking it into thinking it is daytime and preventing it from turning on.
  • Optimal Height: For the best motion detection range, the bulb should be mounted pointing downward from a height of about 7 to 10 feet.
  • Not for Dimmers: This bulb contains complex sensor circuitry and is strictly non-dimmable. Using it on a dimmer switch will cause it to flicker violently and destroy the sensors.

FAQ

These bulbs use a standard E26 medium screw base, so they fit most household fixtures that accept E26 bulbs. Common examples include porch lights, garage lights, entryway fixtures, and some outdoor wall lanterns. They work best in open or uncovered fixtures where the motion sensor and dusk-to-dawn function are not blocked.
The bulb is designed to stay off during daylight and activate in low-light conditions. At night, the built-in sensor allows the bulb to respond to motion automatically. For best performance, install it where the sensor has a clear line of sight and is not shaded or enclosed by a tight glass cover.
Common causes include using the bulb in an enclosed fixture, installing it where the sensor is obstructed, nearby ambient light confusing the dusk-to-dawn sensor, or the wall switch being turned off. The bulb also needs constant power from the fixture to operate its automatic sensing features.
They are commonly used for outdoor security lighting in porch, patio, garage, and entry fixtures, but they should be installed in a suitable fixture that protects the bulb from direct weather exposure if the fixture is not rated for fully exposed use. Make sure the bulb's sensor area is not blocked by the fixture housing.
Bulbs with built-in motion and dusk-to-dawn electronics generally perform best on a standard on/off switch with continuous power. Dimmer circuits, some timers, photocell fixtures, or certain smart switches can interfere with the bulb's internal sensor operation.
Confirm that your fixture uses an E26 socket and that the bulb shape fits the fixture without crowding the sensor area. Also check whether the fixture is enclosed, because enclosed or heavily shaded fixtures can reduce motion detection and light sensing performance.
Replacement is often needed when the bulb no longer turns on reliably, stops detecting motion, stays on when it should cycle off, or fails to respond properly at night. Power fluctuations, heat buildup in enclosed fixtures, and long-term sensor wear are common causes of failure in sensor-equipped LED bulbs.
