Compatibility & Fitment
This rack adjuster kit is a standard replacement for various Whirlpool-manufactured dishwashers equipped with adjustable upper racks. Key compatible brands include:
- Whirlpool: Fits many Gold series and standard models (e.g., WDT720PADM, WDT970SAHZ, WDF series).
- KitchenAid: Compatible with many KDT, KDF, and KUDE series high-capacity models.
- Kenmore / Sears: Fits various 665-series models (e.g., 665.13263K, 665.13473K).
- Maytag & Jenn-Air: Compatible with select units utilizing the WPW10195839 adjuster style.
When to Replace
- Rack Sagging: One side of the upper rack sits lower than the other, often causing the middle spray arm to strike dishes below.
- Broken Housing: Visible cracks in the plastic frame or snapped mounting clips that hold the adjuster to the wire rack.
- Lever Failure: The adjustment trigger no longer clicks into place or has snapped off, making it impossible to secure the rack height.
- Rack Falling: The rack unexpectedly drops to its lowest position during a cycle due to worn internal locking teeth.
- Brittle Plastic: The components have become chalky or brittle from repeated exposure to high heat and harsh detergents.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: Ensure the dishwasher is off and the upper rack is completely empty. Pull the rack out to its furthest extent.
- Removal: You may need to remove the rack from the tub rails by releasing the end caps on the drawer slides. Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently release the plastic clips securing the old adjuster to the wire.
- Orientation: Note that there is often a distinct "Left" and "Right" side; ensure the adjustment levers face toward the front of the dishwasher for easy access.
- Snap-Fit: Align the new adjuster with the horizontal wires of the rack and press firmly until all clips snap securely into place.
- Verification: Reinsert the rack into the slide rails and test the height adjustment on both sides to ensure it locks smoothly at each level.
