Key Features

  • Length: 12 inches
  • Hose Material: Thermo-plastic rubber or braided stainless steel
  • Inlet Connector: QCC1 (Type 1) nut for hand-tightening on 20 lb and 30 lb propane cylinders
  • Outlet Connector: 1/4 inch inverted male flare
  • Maximum Working Pressure: 350 PSI
  • Safety: Integrated excess flow protection and thermal shut-off device

Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers

  • Replaces cracked, leaking, or age-damaged 12-inch pigtail hoses with identical QCC1 and 1/4 inch inverted male flare fittings.
  • Direct replacement for pigtail hoses used on many automatic changeover two-stage regulators.

Compatibility & Fitment

  • Connects standard 20 lb and 30 lb DOT propane cylinders to RV or trailer two-stage regulators.
  • Fits regulators and four-port brass tees that require a 1/4 inch inverted male flare inlet.
  • Commonly used for dual propane tank setups on travel trailers, fifth wheels, and campers.

When to Replace

  • Visible signs of wear such as cracks, brittleness, cuts, or abrasions on the hose.
  • Leaking gas detected by smell or a soapy water test at the connection points or along the hose body.
  • Corrosion on brass fittings that prevents a secure, leak-free seal.
  • As part of periodic maintenance, typically every 5 to 7 years, regardless of appearance.

Installation Tips

  • Ensure the propane cylinder valve is fully closed before starting removal or installation.
  • Hand-tighten the QCC1 nut onto the propane cylinder valve; do not use tools on this plastic fitting.
  • Use appropriate wrenches to tighten the 1/4 inch inverted flare fitting onto the regulator or tee. Use a second wrench to hold the regulator inlet fitting to prevent damage.
  • After installation is complete, open the cylinder valve slowly and check all connections for leaks using a non-corrosive gas leak detector solution.
  • Route the hose to prevent kinking, sharp bends, and contact with sharp edges or sources of high heat.

FAQ

This 12-inch pigtail hose is designed for standard RV propane systems. It features a QCC1 (Type 1) connector for attachment to standard 20lb to 40lb propane tanks and a 1/4-inch inverted male flare fitting for connection to your RV's dual-stage regulator.
You should inspect your pigtail hoses for signs of dry rot, cracking, or physical damage to the rubber casing. If you detect the smell of propane near the tank, notice a restricted flow of gas to your appliances, or if the hose has exceeded its manufacturer's recommended service life (typically 5 to 10 years), it should be replaced immediately.
You will need two wrenches to perform the swap: one to hold the regulator fitting steady and another to tighten the 1/4-inch inverted flare nut. Ensure you do not over-tighten the connections, as this can damage the flare seat.
Yes. Once the new hose is installed and the tank valve is slowly opened, you must perform a leak test on all connections using a soapy water solution or a dedicated propane leak detector. Bubbles forming at the connections indicate a leak that must be addressed before operating your propane system.
No. This hose is specifically designed for high-pressure connections between a propane cylinder and an RV regulator. It is not intended for use as a direct supply line to portable grills or appliances that require a low-pressure connection.
