Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers

  • Replaces OEM and aftermarket city water inlets with a 3/4" NH female inlet and 1/2" NPT male outlet connection.
  • Functionally equivalent to parts requiring the same thread specifications and flange footprint.

Compatibility & Fitment

  • Designed for use on most recreational vehicles, including motorhomes, campers, and travel trailers.
  • Connects to any standard US garden hose (3/4" GHT/NH).
  • Installs into RV plumbing systems using a 1/2" NPT female fitting.

When to Replace

  • Visible cracks, discoloration, or brittleness in the plastic housing.
  • Water leaks from the flange, hose connection, or plumbing connection.
  • Failure of the internal check valve, allowing water to flow back out of the inlet.
  • Stripped or damaged threads preventing a secure hose connection.

Installation Tips

  • Turn off and depressurize the water system before starting.
  • Remove the old city water inlet flange and disconnect the plumbing line.
  • Clean the exterior surface and plumbing connection threads.
  • Wrap the 1/2" NPT male threads with the included thread seal tape 3-5 times in a clockwise direction.
  • Screw the new inlet into the RV's plumbing fitting and tighten until snug. Do not overtighten.
  • Align the flange and secure it to the RV exterior with the provided screws.
  • Connect a pressurized water hose and inspect all connections for leaks.

FAQ

This inlet is designed to connect an external campground or city water hose to your RV’s fresh water system. It has a 3/4" NH female hose connection on the outside and a 1/2" NPT male connection on the back side for plumbing into the RV water line.
The check valve helps prevent water from flowing backward out of the inlet when the RV water pump is on or when there is pressure inside the plumbing system. This is important for reducing backflow and helping the city water connection function properly.
Common signs include leaking around the inlet, dripping from the hose connection after disconnecting water, cracked housing, stripped hose threads, or water spraying inside the wall cavity behind the fitting. A failed internal check valve can also allow water to seep back out of the inlet.
It is commonly used as a general replacement style for many RV, camper, and travel trailer city water hookups, but fitment depends on your existing cutout, mounting pattern, and plumbing connection. The most important points to verify are the 3/4" NH female hose connection, 1/2" NPT male rear connection, and whether the mounting flange matches your current inlet.
Typical installation tools include a screwdriver, adjustable wrench or pliers, and possibly RV-safe sealant if your original installation used a sealing bead around the flange. Since screws and Teflon tape are included, you should already have the basic mounting hardware and thread seal material needed for the pipe-thread connection.
For most RV owners, replacement is a straightforward repair if the inlet is easy to access from behind the wall. It often takes about 15 to 45 minutes. The job usually involves turning off water pressure, removing the old mounting screws, disconnecting the rear plumbing fitting, applying thread seal tape to the new threaded connection if needed, and reinstalling the inlet.
Before installation, shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure. Inspect the supply hose, the rear 1/2" NPT plumbing connection, the wall opening, and the mounting area for cracks or water damage. It’s also a good idea to check whether the old leak was caused by a bad washer in the hose, damaged threads, or a failed check valve so the new inlet is not blamed for another problem in the system.
The most common causes are UV exposure, age-related plastic cracking, freezing damage, cross-threaded hose connections, over-tightening, and worn internal check valve components. Repeated water pressure cycles can also weaken seals over time, especially if the RV is frequently connected to high-pressure campground water without a regulator.
