When to Replace

  • The housing is cracked, broken, or excessively worn.
  • The bump knob is worn through and fails to advance the trimmer line.
  • Internal feeding mechanism consistently jams or fails to operate.
  • The head causes excessive vibration or does not spin true.

Installation Tips

  • Before starting, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety.
  • To remove the old head, locate the locking slot on the gearbox shield and insert a screwdriver or pin to prevent rotation.
  • Unscrew the old head by turning it clockwise (most models use a left-hand thread).
  • Clean the gearbox shaft threads before installing the new head.
  • Thread the new head on by turning it counter-clockwise until it is hand-tight, then secure it firmly.
