When to Replace
- The tractor experiences a loss of ground speed, slips when climbing mild inclines, or completely fails to drive forward.
- The mower lunges or jerks violently when engaging the transmission gears.
- The outer rubber casing of the existing belt is deeply cracked, glazed, frayed, or missing chunks of material.
- A loud squealing or continuous burning rubber smell is present while the drive system is actively engaged.
Installation Tips
- Park the mower on a level surface, set the parking brake, and disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental engine starts.
- Take a digital photograph or refer to the underside mower diagram to strictly follow the correct belt routing path around the drive, transmission, and idler pulleys.
- Clean out built-up grass clippings, dirt, or debris from all pulley grooves before seating the new belt to prevent premature wear.
- When tilting the mower to access the drive belt, always ensure the carburetor and spark plug face upward to prevent oil and fuel leakage.
