16952-Z8B-000 Fuel Filter for Honda GCV & GC Series Engines
Key Features
- High-Efficiency Micron Filtration: Engineered with a fine-mesh internal screen designed to trap microscopic dirt, rust, and debris before they can reach and clog the delicate jets of your carburetor.
- Translucent Inspection Housing: The clear polymer casing allows for instant visual monitoring of fuel flow and debris accumulation, making it easy to determine when the filter needs replacement.
- Precision-Molded Barbed Fittings: Features standard 1/4-inch (approx. 6mm) inlet and outlet ports that ensure a secure, vacuum-tight fit into your mower's fuel lines, preventing leaks and air infiltration.
- Ethanol-Compatible Construction: Manufactured from chemical-resistant materials specifically designed to withstand modern ethanol-blended fuels, preventing the housing from becoming soft or brittle over time.
- Optimized Gravity-Flow Design: Specifically calibrated for gravity-fed fuel systems, ensuring consistent fuel delivery to the engine without causing vapor lock or restricted flow during heavy cutting.

Compatibility & Fitment
This fuel filter is the factory-standard replacement for a wide range of Honda-powered outdoor equipment. Key compatible models include:
- Honda Engines: GCV160, GCV190, GC160, GC160LA, GC190, GC190LA, and GS190 series.
- Honda HRX Series Mowers: Fits HRX217, HRX217K1, HRX217K2, HRX217K3, HRX217K4, HRX217K5, and HRX217K6.
- Honda HRN/HRR Series Mowers: Compatible with HRN216, HRR216, and HRR216K9 models.
- Honda HRC Commercial Mowers: Fits HRC216K3 commercial walking mowers.
- Note: Some newer GCV160/190 "A0" and "LA" variants use this specific compact filter. Always check that your current fuel line is 1/4" internal diameter before purchasing.
When to Replace
- Engine Sputtering or Surging: If the engine runs unevenly or "hunts" for RPMs, it is often a sign of a partially clogged filter restricting the constant flow of fuel.
- Hard Starting: A dirty filter can cause a delay in fuel reaching the combustion chamber, requiring more pulls to start the mower.
- Visible Debris in Housing: If you see dark particles or water droplets inside the clear filter housing, the unit has reached its capacity and should be swapped.
- Annual Tune-Up: As a best practice, fuel filters should be replaced at the start of every mowing season to prevent stale fuel sediment from damaging the carburetor.
Installation Tips
- Safety First (CRITICAL): Work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks or flames. Have a small container or rag ready to catch any fuel that remains in the lines.
- Follow the Arrow (PRO TIP): Look for the small "FLOW" arrow molded into the side of the filter. The arrow must point **away** from the fuel tank and **toward** the carburetor.
- Hose Clamp Check: Use needle-nose pliers to squeeze the hose clamps and slide them back about 2 inches before pulling the old filter off. If your hoses are cracked or stiff, replace them at the same time.
- Drain the Tank: If the fuel in the tank is older than 30 days, it is recommended to drain it and use fresh, stabilized fuel after installing the new filter.
